(This is part of an open ended series of posts where I write down random things I feel are sharable from the years of mailing lists I’ve not caught up on…)
I’ve been listenting to Startups For The Rest of Us since like episode 2 so have known about MicroConf from the beginning. But apparently I only signed up for the mailing list in February 2019 through an AppSumo deal to win a trip to one. I didn’t win, and haven’t been yet. The plan was to go to MicroConf Europe in 2026, but the whole unemployed thing is going to complicate things a bit since EiPS wasn’t supposed to have to carry the load for awhile.
The mailing list follows a consistent format, but the best part for me is the ‘3 SaaS Resources To Check Out From Around The Web’. So here are the emails 256 through 164 which takes the unprocessed ones up to the beginning of 2024.
- Business objectives: How to set them (with 5 examples and a template) – Not to be confused with a Business Goal (which they also define)
- Understanding and Benchmarking Your MRR Movements – ‘Things you would think they would teach you in Entrepeneurship grad school’ and/or ‘Graphs you need to understand to put in your pitch deck’
- 21+ Product-Led Growth Examples to Supercharge Your Strategy – I still haven’t decided my Product Led approach for EiPS. The obvious one is limited number of Events, that goes against the purpose of EiPS.
- 5 Tips to Write More Like a Human (And Less Like an AI Bot) – Writing well is going to be a lost art thanks to AI. I really worry we are losing a whole generation of marketers
- A Guide to Sales Demos That Sell in 2025 – I’ve not even begun to think about how I’m going to demo EiPS when I get to the next phase of it. So I’ll come back to this, and likely Dan Martell’s demo stuff too.
- Who’s lying? – A reminder to calculate every number in 2 different directions. Extremely useful practice during diligence
- What is the Rule of 40 and How to Calculate It? – Another SaaS metric to fully understand and have at your fingertips
- 11 Basic Tips to Lower Your Churn Rate (Updated) – I don’t have customers yet, but you can bet I’m doing a bunch of these once I do. Because it is good business.
- Your Guide To Automated In-Product Prompts – We had a whole plan for self-onboarding through product prompts in the last business. I want one for EiPS too, but its complicated as setup is in one place, and interaction is another.
- How Do We Build an MVP Marketing Attribution Structure? – Attribution is hard.
- The Complete Checklist for Creating Compelling Calls-to-Action – Is really about Lead Magnet CTA, but still good.
- How Do You Create a Great Marketing Strategy? – ‘The core of marketing strategy is having great answers to just five questions’
- All You Need to Know About Google Analytics 4 (A Complete Guide to GA4) – Do I like Fathom Analytics’ privacy-first aspect? Yes, yes I do. Am I putting GA4 into EiPS? Yes, yes I am.
- How to improve UX to ramp up your website conversions – Their tips all happen to exploit their solution, but hey, that’s what makes it good Content Marketing
- How to create effective document templates – Love me a good template
- SEO writing: how to create content for Google (and delight your users) – SEO starts mid-January. It is all about scheduling.
- A Beginner-Friendly Guide to Google Ads for 2024 – I do not doubt that some of this is outdated given that we’re about to hit 2026…
